Lyris Technologies Acquires SpamDetective
Anti-Spam Software:
Acquisition adds highly-effective Windows
desktop product to Lyris anti-spam portfolio

September 24, 2002 - Lyris Technologies, a leading developer of
email management and spam blocking software, and EmTec, a developer
of communications software for Microsoft Windows, announced today
that Lyris has acquired Emtec's SpamDetective anti-spam software.
The sale expands the reach of the Lyris antispam portfolio to the
desktop. "Lyris has sold server-based antispam software since 1997,
but businesses also wanted protection for individual employees,"
said Lyris CEO John Buckman. "Many solutions out there, however, are
too aggressive for business users, blocking important, legitimate
mail from customers and partners. We found that SpamDetective was
the most effective desktop product that can block obvious spam
without being too restrictive."
